ADVenture Riding 101

February 16, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

ADVenture Ride and Camp 101 Details

Do you own a road bike and have been thinking of an adventure bike? Do have an adventure bike and would like to learn to be comfortable taking it off road? Or maybe you saw “The Long Way Round” with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, and your goal is to one day take an adventure motorcycle tour.

If you said “yes” to any of the above, then this is the course for you. It is for every rider that has looked at a dirt or gravel road and said, “I’d like to go down that road”.

What is Adventure riding?

Isn’t it just dirt bike riding on a big bike? This is a common misconception. Adventure bikes, such as the BMW GS or the KTM 1290, need to be ridden differently than dirt bikes! First of all, you MUST stand up. Learning how to ride standing up is learning to ride all over again. If you haven’t been standing on your pegs, you need to take this course!!

Who is this class for?

Anyone wanting to learn adventure riding should take this class. NO dirt riding experience is needed. Riders should have an M endorsement, at least 2500 miles of road experience, and be comfortable with slow speed drills in a parking lot. You will need a bike that has pegs to stand on and in good working condition. If you have questions about which Zacker Adventures course you should take, contact Todd directly.

In our Adventure Ride and Camp 101, we cover all the skills you will need to begin your new path on dirt and gravel roads. Some of the topics we cover are:

Adventure bike set up and ergonomics
• Standing: How, why, when and where
• Throttle and brake control on dirt and gravel
• Emergency braking
• Steering by weight transfer
• Slow speed maneuvers

Cost:
$199 for Friday
or
$349 for Fridays ADV 101 and Saturday ADV 201

***This is if you would like to progress through the training classes***
